How to Reconnect Envoy-S/IQ Envoy

The Envoy-S and the IQ Envoy has built-in wireless connectivity to connect to your home Wi-Fi, if the LED indicator for the Envoy is turned off or a different color other than green, use the instructions below to reconnect it. You will need your smartphone for these instructions.

  1. Locate your Envoy and press the AP mode button, which is the button underneath the icon of a smartphone.
  2. On your smartphone, go to your Wi-Fi settings and select the network that has the word “Envoy” followed by a series of numbers. This is your Envoy’s network connection.
  3. Open a web browser on your phone (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.) and type in 172.30.1.1 on the address bar, where you would put a website address.
  4. This IP address will take you to the Envoy’s webpage, scroll down to the serial number and take note of the serial number. You will need it for the next steps.
  5. Tap on “Wi-Fi” and a pop up will appear asking for a username and password. Your username will be “envoy” and the password is the last 6 digits of your serial number.
  6. Once you have gain access, tap on “More Info” >> “Forget this Network” >> “Forgot”. This may take a few minutes
  7. next, tap on “View Networks” and select your home Wi-Fi.
  8. Enter the password for your Wi-Fi and tap “Connect”. If the connection was successful, the overview screen will show that you are connected to your Wi-Fi network and the top LED light on your Envoy will show green.

Note:

  • Depending on how long the envoy has been offline, it may take a while for all the data to be uploaded to your Enlighten app. It typically takes one hour to upload a day’s worth of data. If your Envoy has been offline for 20 days it will take 20 hours to upload all the data until it can resume reporting current data.

How to Reconnect Envoy-R using Ethernet Cord

The LCD Envoy (Envoy-R) connects directly to your router via Ethernet Cord. If your Envoy is not reporting production data or if the display is showing a “-We” message, below are the instructions on how to reconnect your Envoy-R to the Internet.

  1. Unplug your Envoy from the outlet and from your router.
  2. Reset your router by turning it off and back on.
  3. Ply your Envoy back into the outlet and to your router.
  4. Once the main display is showing an IP address (number starting with 169), press and hold the Menu button on the side of the Envoy and the display will cycle through a series of options. Release when the display shows “Get new IP address”.
  5. In a few minutes the display will update with a new IP address and a “+Web” status will appear.

Note:

  • If the screen does not show a “+Web” status, it may take up to 24 hours until the status changes after following the instructions.

How to Reconnect Envoy-R using Ethernet Bridges

The LCD Envoy (Envoy-R) can utilize a pair of Ethernet ridges to enable wireless communication to your home router. If your Envoy hasn’t been reporting to your Enphase Enlighten app of if you noticed a “-Web” displayed on your Envoy screen, below are step-by-step instructions on how to reconnect it.

  1. Unplug the Ethernet bridge connecting to your Envoy and the one connection to your router from their perspective devices and power outlet.
  2. Unplug the Envoy-R from the outlet.
  3. Have both bridges plugged to a power outlet in closer proximity to each other and press the pair button. Depending on the brand Ethernet bridges you have and pair button is either a button labeled “pair” or a symbol representing the pairing process.
  4. Once the indicator for a successful pairing is complete, you can plug back each bridge to their perspective device. One for the router and the other for the Envoy-R.
  5. Plug the Envoy-R back to the outlet.
  6. From here, an indicator for internet connectivity (typically an LED light) will show on both bridges.
  7. Once the main screen showing an IP address shows on the Envoy-R, press and hold the menu button on the side of the Envoy until a display for “Get new IP Address” shows and release the button to select the option.
  8. Wait for a few minutes and a new IP Address will show and a “+Web” message will appear indicating that the Envoy-R is connected to the internet.

Note:

  • If you’re still receiving a “-Web” message on your Envoy-R, it may take about 24 hours for the Envoy-R to upload any data that it wasn’t able to upload when it was disconnected.
